O acidente ocorreu próximo o quilômetro 134. Testemunhas contam que viram a vítima entrando e saindo várias vezes a pé da rodovia, antes de ser atingida por um Chevrolet Onix.
Após o acidente, o condutor do Onix acionou o Samu (Serviço de Atendimento Móvel de Urgência), porém o homem já estava morto . Ele era uma pessoa em situação de rua.
