Um homem foi preso nesta sexta-feira (16) em Piracicaba (SP), após uma perseguição policial que começou em Capivari (SP). Ele foi identificado pela muralha digital capivariana em um carro, que havia sido furtado no estado de Minas Gerais, em maio.

A Guarda Civil Municipal (GCM) iniciou a perseguição e, segundo a Secretaria de Segurança Pública da cidade, o homem chegou a fugir por vários bairros e também pela Rodovia do Açúcar (SP-308).

Já em Piracicaba, na Rodovia Luiz de Queiroz (SP-304), o veículo foi identificado e cercado pelos agentes do 10° Batalhão de Ações Especiais da Polícia (Baep) da Polícia Militar (PM), que conseguiram prender o homem.

Segundo os policiais, ele tem 53 anos e era foragido do sistema carcerário, onde cumpria sete anos de pena por estelionato. O carro em que ele estava foi furtado no município de Campo Belo (MG).

O homem foi encaminhado para a Unidade de Polícia Judiciária (UPJ), onde ficou preso à disposição da Justiça. O carro usado por ele foi apreendido.
