A ocorrência aconteceu por volta das 9h30, na Rodovia dos Bandeirantes (SP-348), em Santa Bárbara d’Oeste (SP).

De acordo com informações da Polícia Rodoviária, um dos caminhões seguia sentido Sumaré-Santa Bárbara quando ao chegar na altura do km 133, invadiu a pista contrária e bateu em outro caminhão e um carro.

O caminhoneiro que atravessou o canteiro central não resistiu aos ferimentos e morreu no local. Ele foi identificado como  João Batista Malaquias, de 66 anos.

Outras duas pessoas ficaram feridas, sendo uma delas em estado grave. Ela foi socorrida pelo helicóptero Águia da Polícia Militar (PM).

A pista sentido Sul foi interditada para atendimento das vítimas e remoção do corpo, causando um congestionamento no trecho.

As causas do acidente ainda serão apuradas.
