De acordo com a Polícia Militar Rodoviária (PMRv), um casal relatou que seguia em um veículo sentido Campinas (SP). Os ocupantes do carro foram surpreendidos pelo motorista andando na pista no quilometro 105, sentido sul, e segundo eles, não houve tempo de frear e o atropelaram.

Testemunhas que passavam pelo local, disseram aos policiais que momentos antes do atropelamento, a vítima havia estacionado o caminhão no acostamento.

O caminhoneiro morreu ainda no local. A perícia realizou os trabalhos necessários e depois, a ocorrência foi registrada no Plantão Policial de Sumaré.
