A prisão aconteceu durante uma ação conjunta entre as Polícias Militar (PM) de Atibaia (SP) e Campinas (SP), e da Guarda Civil Municipal (GCM) de Itatiba (SP).

De acordo com apuração do Policial Padrão, o crime aconteceu na Avenida Jerónimo de Camargo, em Atibaia. O trio roubou a van que transportava os cigarros e manteve o motorista refém.

Após receber informações sobre o roubo, os policiais confirmaram com apoio das câmeras de monitoramento da prefeitura, que o veículo suspeito entrou no bairro Jardim do Trevo, próximo à Rodovia Dom Pedro I.

No local, os bandidos transferiram a carga de cigarros para um caminhão e abandonaram a van e a vítima antes de fugirem para Itatiba.

As equipes então realizaram um cerco no quilômetro 87 da Dom Pedro, sentido Campinas e interceptaram o caminhão e um segundo veículo envolvido no roubo.

O motorista do caminhão foi preso em flagrante e a carga de cigarros recuperada. A força-tarefa também prendeu os outros dois suspeitos que estavam no segundo veículo.

O trio foi levado ao Distrito Policial de Atibaia, onde ficou preso por roubo. A carga foi devolvida ao proprietário.
