O Sargento nasceu no dia 20 de fevereiro de 1916, em uma cidade do interior de São Paulo chamada Franca, mas sua certidão de nascimento foi registrada em Três Lagoas/MS.

Ele residia na cidade de Bauru, também no interior de São Paulo e deixou oito filhos. O Sargento ingressou na Força Pública no ano de 1941, serviu nos municípios de Sorocaba, São Paulo, Valentim Gentil, Neves Paulista, Pindorama, Itatinga, Boituva, Santa Adélia, e Mirassol e em 1960 encerrou carreira.

Serviu também em área de abrangência no período da Segunda Guerra Mundial. João também influenciou de forma direta e indireta para que outros integrantes da família ingressassem nas Polícias.

Em 2016, recebeu a medalha “General Francisco Alves do Nascimento Pinto”, comemorativa do Centenário da Caixa Beneficente da Policia Militar do Estado de São Paulo.
