De acordo com informações da Guarda Municipal, o rapaz se identificou como Colecionador, Atirador Desportivo e Caçador (CAC) e afirmou que faz a segurança particular de comércios da região. Ele confirmou ter efetuado o disparo.

Apesar do susto, ninguém no carro ficou ferido. Em entrevista concedida à EPTV, afiliada da TV Globo, uma das vítimas disse que viu um suspeito furtando fios de cobre de um estabelecimento e abordou o criminoso.

Neste momento, o homem que se identificou como segurança saiu de um carro e começou a atirar nele e na mulher. Eles correram para o veículo deles para se proteger e, por isso, o automóvel foi atingido.

A Guarda Municipal acredita que o segurança se confundiu e achou que quem estava roubando os fios era o casal. Uma pistola 9 milímetros e as munições que estavam com o segurança ficaram apreendidas.

O suspeito que furtava os cabos do comércio não foi localizado.

Um boletim de ocorrência foi registrado no 1º Distrito Policial. Não há informações se o homem permaneceu preso ou foi liberado.
