Em atuação conjunta entre Polícia Federal, IBAMA e Guarda Civil Municipal de Campinas, foi identificada uma carga suspeita que estava sendo recebida em uma transportadora de cargas em Campinas.

A carga era composta por diversos pacotes em pó, bem como vasilhames líquidos de agrotóxicos, sendo constatado que eles eram de origem chinesa e paraguaia, todos sem registro para serem comercializados no Brasil.

As embalagens encontradas estavam sem qualquer tipo de informação sobre os produtos, com escritos à mão com o nome do agrotóxico na parte externa, em total desconformidade com as normas de comércio dos órgãos fiscalizadores.

O preso, após a lavratura do auto de prisão em flagrante foi encaminhado para o sistema prisional, onde permanecerá à disposição da Justiça para responder pelos crimes de contrabando, cuja pena pode chegar a 5 (cinco) anos de prisão (art. 334-A, 1º, II, Decreto Lei 2.848/1940), pelo crime previsto no art. 15, da Lei 7.802/1989 (Lei de produtos agrotóxicos), cuja pena pode chegar a 4 (quatro) anos de prisão, e pelo crime previsto no art. 56, da Lei 9.605/1998 (Lei de Crimes Ambientais), cuja pena pode chegar a 4 (quatro) anos.
