A apreensão aconteceu no final da noite de terça-feira (13).

Os policiais realizavam uma operação na praça de pedágio de Rio Claro, na Rodovia Washington Luís (SP-310), quando um veículo chamou a atenção das autoridades. Por volta das 23h, um Fiat Fiorino recebeu ordem de parada obrigatória, porém, o condutor desobedeceu e tentou atingir os policiais que estavam no local. Logo depois, ele fugiu em alta velocidade.

A equipe do TOR iniciou o acompanhamento do veículo e, depois da perseguição, conseguiu abordar a Fiorino já na Rodovia Wilson Finardi (SP-191), na altura do km 77. Durante uma vistoria veicular, os policiais encontraram quinze pacotes no compartimento de carga, totalizando pouco mais de 497 kg de cocaína.

O motorista afirmou ter sido contratado por um indivíduo conhecido pelo apelido de “Baiano” e que recebeu a droga em Araraquara (SP), com o objetivo de transportar a cocaína até Diadema, na Grande São Paulo. Segundo ele, o valor acordado pelo serviço era de R$ 3 mil.

O homem foi preso em flagrante pela posse e o transporte das drogas.
