A estrutura é uma lombada de superfície plana com uma faixa de pedestre em cima, e tem o objetivo de reduzir a velocidade dos carros que passam pelo local, gerando mais segurança no trânsito.

As lombadas fazem com que o condutor fique mais atento em determinados pontos da rodovia, locais esses considerados críticos pelos levantamentos estatísticos, de infrações de trânsito e ate mesmo, acidentes de trânsito com e sem vítimas.
