Conforme apuração do Policial Padrão, a vítima residia em Atibaia (SP) e seguia em um Fiat Palio sentido Campinas (SP). O motorista faleceu ao volante e o carro parou na altura do km 71 da rodovia, ao bater na defensa metálica do canteiro central.

A equipe médica da concessionária Rota das Bandeiras, realizou manobra de reanimação, mas não houve êxito, e o óbito foi confirmado no local.

Equipes policiais e de perícia também atenderam a ocorrência e realizaram os trabalhos necessários para a remoção do corpo.
