O caso foi registrado pela Polícia Civil (PC) como feminicídio seguido de suicídio.

De acordo com o registro da ocorrência, policiais militares foram ao local após receberem uma denúncia de que havia um veículo ligado e estacionado há muito tempo em frente a um prédio. Os agentes bateram no vidro e, sem resposta, abriram a porta do veículo, onde encontraram o casal morto.

Micaelly dos Santos Lara e David Aparecido da Silva Alves haviam sido atingidos por disparos de arma de fogo na cabeça, conforme constatou a perícia. Segundo a Polícia Militar (PM), a arma estava na mão do homem.

O caso foi registrado no 1º Distrito Policial (DP) de Hortolândia e os corpos foram levados ao Instituto Médico Legal (IML) para exame necroscópico. Não há informações sobre o velório e o enterro.
