O crime aconteceu em uma residência na estrada principal do Distrito de Itapé, área rural da cidade.

Conforme apuração do Policial Padrão, a vítima e autor vinham tendo desentendimentos por causa de uma mulher. Uma testemunha relatou que momentos antes do crime, Valdemir teria ido até a casa do outro homem, quebrado a janela do local com um pedaço de pau e feito ameaças de morte.

Logo depois, segundo a testemunha, o morador saiu da casa, pegou uma foice, atingiu a vítima e fugiu. Valdemir teve ferimentos no pescoço e cabeça, e não resistiu.

Os objetos utilizados no crime foram apreendidos para análise pericial, enquanto o corpo da vítima foi encaminhado ao Instituto Médico Legal (IML) para os devidos exames.

O homem identificado como autor do homicídio, está foragido.
