O caso aconteceu por volta das 08h15 na Rodovia Astrônomo Jean Nicolini (SPA-127/304), divisa entre as cidades de Americana e Nova Odessa (SP).

De acordo com a Polícia Militar Rodoviária (PMR), no quilometro 002 +700 o animal causou um curto circuito na fiação e os fios caíram na rodovia causando fogo na área de mata do canteiro central.

Os policiais juntamente com o Corpo de Bombeiros de Americana rapidamente conseguiram apagar as chamas e ninguém ficou ferido.

A Companhia Paulista de Força e Luz (CPFL) foi até o local e recolheu os fios danificados, já colocando novos no local.

As equipes acreditam que o macaco em algum momento acabou segurando dois fios de uma vez só, possivelmente usando as mãos e o rabo, o que causou o curto.

O animal não resistiu a descarga elétrica e entrou em óbito, ele foi retirado pelo do local pelo Departamento de Estradas de Rodagem (DER) que realizará os trabalhos necessários.
