As vítimas são Marcelo Aparecido dos Santos de 54 anos e Irene Pereira Brito dos Santos de 55.

Conforme apuração do Policial Padrão, o acidente aconteceu por volta das 16h30, na altura do quilômetro 73 da pista Oeste.

Segundo a Polícia Rodoviária, o motorista de um Volkswagen Polo perdeu o controle da direção e bateu contra um Chevrolet Kadett que estava parado no acostamento.

O casal estava do lado de fora do veículo e acabou sendo atropelado. O policial aposentado morreu no local do acidente, enquanto a mulher chegou a ser socorrida, mas morreu no hospital.

O motorista que atropelou o casal foi preso. Ainda de acordo com a polícia, ele foi submetido ao teste do bafômetro que apontou 0,54 mg de álcool por litro de ar alveolar.

O homem está internado, por se queixar de dor no braço, e permanece sob escolta.

Marcelo Aparecido dos Santos era policial reformado que trabalhava no 37° Batalhão da Polícia Militar do Interior (BPMI).
