Outros dois criminosos envolvidos na tentativa de homicídio já tinham sido presos.

A policial foi baleada pelas costas enquanto fazia patrulhamento pela Operação Escudo em 1º de agosto. Após o crime ela passou várias semanas internada até se recuperar.

Nesta terça os PMs do 2° Batalhão de Ações Especiais de Polícia (Baep) estavam em patrulhamento na região quando viram um veículo em alta velocidade. Na abordagem foi localizada uma arma de fogo ilegal. O motorista foi detido e levado à delegacia.

Na unidade policial foi constatado que o motorista era procurado por tentativa de homicídio contra dois policiais durante a Operação Escudo, realizada na Baixada Santista. A ação policial tinha o objetivo de prender os criminosos que mataram o soldado Patrick Reis e combater o crime organizado naquela região.

Em 1º de agosto, após atirar na cabo Najara, ele e os comparsas fugiram em direção ao morro São Bento, onde atacaram uma viatura do Baep e balearam outro policial na perna. Na troca de tiros um dos criminosos foi baleado e morreu. Outros dois foram presos.

O caso foi registrado como captura de procurado e posse ou porte ilegal de arma de fogo no 1° Distrito Policial de Santos.
