Uma das medidas é a ativação do Comando Conjunto Ágata Oeste, que tem a participação de 1.300 militares e de órgãos de segurança pública, ambiental e de fiscalização.

“A expectativa com a Ágata Oeste é inibir a prática de ilícitos transfronteiriços e ambientais no período da operação, ocasionando, naturalmente, um aumento da segurança e melhorando a nossa consciência situacional e dos demais órgãos envolvidos”, informou o comandante da operação e contra-almirante, Iunis Távora Said, em nota do ministério.

Em 2022, cerca de 32 toneladas de drogas, como maconha, cocaína, pasta base de cocaína e crack, foram apreendidas nas cidades fronteiriças, conforme dados da Secretaria de Segurança Pública do Estado de Mato Grosso.

A operação conta ainda com apoio de oito aeronaves e dez viaturas. As Forças Armadas irão promover ações sociais, como atendimento médico e doação de roupa para comunidade local.
