O caso ocorreu na Rodovia Luiz de Queiroz (SP-304), em Santa Bárbara d’Oeste (SP).

De acordo com a Polícia Rodoviária, a vítima conduzia um Hyundai I30 sentido Piracicaba (SP) quando tentou uma ultrapassagem na altura do km 143.

Durante a ação, o rapaz bateu na traseira de uma caminhonete S10, perdeu o controle da direção, atravessou o canteiro central e capotou na pista contrária. Rafael não resistiu aos ferimentos e morreu no local.

O motorista da S10 não ficou ferido. Ele passou pelo teste de bafômetro que não acusou ingestão de bebida alcoólica e foi liberado.

A polícia apura as circunstâncias do acidente.
