O mandado da nova diretoria, que segue tendo a prefeita de Iracemápolis (SP), Nelita Michel, como vice-presidente, vai até março de 2025.  

Botion assume o cargo após dois anos de mandato do prefeito de Piracicaba (SP), Luciano de Almeida.

Após a posse, o prefeito de Limeira agradeceu a confiança de todos e parabenizou o Almeida pelo trabalho estruturado da Região nesses últimos anos. “Teremos desafios pela frente, mas juntos construiremos a solução, bem como buscaremos o desenvolvimento de nossos municípios”, destacou Botion.

A Região Metropolitana de Piracicaba foi criada em agosto de 2021 através da Lei Complementar Estadual nº 1.360. Além de Limeira, a RMP é composta por mais 23 cidades: Águas de São Pedro, Analândia, Araras, Capivari, Charqueada, Conchal, Cordeirópolis, Corumbataí, Elias Fausto, Ipeúna, Iracemápolis, Leme, Mombuca, Piracicaba, Pirassununga, Rafard, Rio Claro, Rio das Pedras, Saltinho, Santa Cruz da Conceição, Santa Gertrudes, Santa Maria da Serra e São Pedro, que reúnem mais de 1,5 milhão de habitantes.

A RMP tem participação de quase 4% no Produto Interno Bruto (PIB) estadual, e se destaca como importante polo regional de desenvolvimento industrial e agrícola.

Outros cargos

Além da Região Metropolitana de Piracicaba, Botion também preside o Cismetro Limeira; o Consórcio Intermunicipal das Bacias dos Rios Piracicaba, Capivari e Jundiaí; e é vice-presidente de Desenvolvimento Econômico Local, Micro e Pequena Empresa e Microcrédito da Frente Nacional de Prefeitos (FNP).
