Segundo a Polícia Militar Rodoviária (PMRv), um Fiat Uno invadiu a pista contrária e bateu de frente com a carreta, por volta das 23h. As quatro vítimas fatais estavam no carro sendo pai, mãe, filha e avó materna. São elas:

  • Maria Luiza Venerando da Silva – 70 anos
  • Luiz Carlos de Souza – 47 anos
  • Angelica Cristina Bezerra da Silva – 34 anos
  • Jenifer Caroline Bezerra Souza – 16 anos

O caminhão estava carregado com chapas de aço e seguia para Santa Maria da Serra (SP). O caminhoneiro não se feriu. Ele fez o teste do bafômetro e o resultado foi negativo.

A rodovia precisou ficar interditada para o trabalho das equipes de resgate. Por conta do óleo que vazou dos veículos, as equipes precisaram jogar serragem na via.

Os corpos das vítimas foram levados ao Instituto Médico Legal (IML) de Piracicaba (SP). Não há informações sobre quando e onde acontecerão os sepultamentos.
