O decreto foi publicado em edição extra do Diário Oficial da União na manhã desta segunda-feira (4).

Souza ocupava a Secretaria de Planejamento e Gestão da Agência Brasileira de Inteligência (Abin).

A nomeação do delegado ocorre após o Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF) suspender a nomeação e a posse de Alexandre Ramagem para a diretoria-geral da PF. Na decisão, o ministro Alexandre de Moraes, do STF, citou declarações do ex-ministro da Justiça Sergio Moro que, ao deixar o cargo, acusou o presidente Bolsonaro de tentar interferir politicamente no órgão.

Após a decisão de Moraes, o próprio presidente tornou sem efeito a nomeação do delegado e manteve Ramagem como diretor-geral da Abin, cargo que ocupa desde o início do governo.
