De acordo com apuração do Policial Padrão, o ônibus estava estacionado em frente à casa do motorista responsável, na Rua Jorge Bellix.

Por volta das 19h, o motorista de um Volkswagen Gol bateu de frente com o coletivo. O barulho fez o responsável pelo ônibus sair de casa e flagrar o acidente.  

Uma ambulância municipal socorreu o motorista ferido ao pronto-socorro. Quando a Polícia Militar (PM) chegou ao local, o homem já não estava lá.

Os policiais conversavam com o responsável pelo ônibus e com algumas testemunhas. Todos eles afirmaram que o causador do acidente apresentava sinais de embriaguez.

A PM checou os dados do carro que ficou no local e descobriu irregularidades no licenciamento.  Logo depois, a equipe foi até a unidade médica para falar com o motorista. No entanto, o homem não quis dar depoimento e recusou o teste de bafômetro.

Conforme a lei vigente, por conta dessa recusa, a polícia o autuou por dirigir sob a influência de álcool e também pelo veículo não ser licenciado. O carro ficou apreendido no pátio de Jaguariúna (SP).
