Segundo o Ministério da Justiça nos últimos três meses, 75 aeronaves foram apreendidas e 38 pessoas foram presas desde o início da operação para combater o garimpo ilegal, a extrusão de não indígenas e garimpeiros, e o restabelecimento de Bases de Proteção Etnoambiental na Terra Indígena Yanomami, em Roraima. A ação é coordenada pelo Ministério da Justiça e Segurança Pública por meio da Secretaria de Operações Integradas (Seopi).

Durante o período também foram apreendidos mais de 85 mil litros de combustíveis, 650 munições, mais de 30 mil quilos de minério, 17 veículos, 10 balsas e 6 embarcações.

“O trabalho faz parte do compromisso do Governo Federal com a proteção dos indígenas e combate aos crimes ambientais. São resultados importantes que demonstram a atuação integrada entre as forças e órgãos federais”, afirma o ministro da Justiça e Segurança Pública, Anderson Torres.

A ação foi realizada pela Polícia Federal, Polícia Rodoviária Federal, Força Nacional de Segurança Pública, Fundação Nacional do Índio (Funai), Instituto Brasileiro do Meio Ambiente e dos Recursos Naturais Renováveis (Ibama), Instituto Chico Mendes de Conservação da Biodiversidade (ICMBio), Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil (Anac), Agência nacional de Telecomunicações (ANATEL), Agência Nacional do Petróleo (ANP).
